Hammerspace is a Ruby gem that offers a hash-like interface to persistent, concurrent, off-heap storage optimized for bulk writes and random reads. It allows applications to efficiently manage infrequently changing data by storing it on disk, reducing memory usage and garbage collection overhead. With built-in concurrency control, multiple processes can safely read and write to a shared data store, making it suitable for applications that require quick access to persistent data.
